Boy this week is proving to be big fun, as more and iCloud and iOS 5 features creep onto the iPad and iOS 4.3.
This afternoon I noticed an update (a few days old) to the iPad (and iPhone) iWork apps, Keynote, Numbers, and Pages. They were all updated at the end of May to Version 1.4. Here’s the line in the changes list that caught my eye:
New document manager to easily sort your documents and organize them into folders
All three apps now show your existing documents in a better, bigger area. More importantly you can now create folders within each app’s set of docs, by dragging them onto each other just as you do with apps. There are also new options when choosing to create a new document – the ability to open one directly from iTunes, iDisk, or WebDAV sources. Very nice.
You can also choose whether docs are sorted by name or by date.
OK, this is a still a long way from full access to the file system, but it’s a heck of a lot nicer looking and nicer to work with than what we had before this update.
